Who am I?

Hi! I am Krisztina.

Food Engineer & qualifying Clinical Nutrition MSc

This website is dedicated to YOU, and I am grateful that you are here.

My Story

Since my childhood, I have been passionate about sciences, especially health-related sciences. I was always interested in the topic of understanding the relation between health and food, and overall, the negative as well as positive choices we make day-by-day when we sit down to eat. I truly believe, this played a big part of why I have chosen to study Food Engineering at Cornivus University of Budapest, in my home country, Hungary. During my studies, I have gained incredible amount of knowledge about the chemical, biological, microbiological, mechanical, economical aspects of food, and its components. All of my courses were focusing more on the food industry from a producer/manufacturer point of view, and less from a nutrition/health standpoint. It was sincerely amazing to learn all the background stories of how food is made and the concept of farm-to-table, but – I was asking myself – if we are so knowledgeable and well-educated on this topic, then why more than half of the population has issues related to nutrition, eating disorders and diseases.

Toward the end of my studies, I tried to concentrate on finding answers to these interrelated and complex questions. For this reason, I decided to write my dissertation about nutritional supplements and their health benefits. I was investigating the legal scope and regulations of these products. It was very striking to realize that nutritional supplements are not obliged to go through any controlling processes. The only strict regulations were mostly related to labelling and the deceit of consumers. In my dissertation, I have also analysed randomly picked nutritional supplements in the University’s laboratory in order to compare the statement on the label with the actual results (antioxidant, flavonoid, vitamins etc.). And guess what? I concluded that these products had false statements on their labels, by having much fewer nutritional benefits (or none) than it was promised.

After finishing my degree, I worked for National Food Safety Laboratory in Budapest, who is responsible for eliminating all food products which hold any danger to consumers. It also includes GMO (Hungary is a zero-tolerance country). Gaining experience in a laboratory has taught me a lot about food safety and hygiene.

Then I moved abroad to study Economics which greatly contributed to broadening my perspective. After a few years of studying economics and working for a robotics company in Monaco, I realized that I need to get back to my roots. Spent thousands of hours educating myself to understand human body and its functions. I trained in Physiology (Duke University), Nutritional Biochemistry (Harvard University) and Anatomy (University of Michigan). I am currently a student of Clinical Nutrition MSc at University of Aberdeen, to take this journey one step further.

This whole journey of mine came with loads of health issues from hormonal imbalance, gut problems, skin dieases to anxiety, exhaustion, insomnia and more. I was taking all kinds of conventional medicines including contraceptive pills to mask my period pain (for 12 years), because I always thought that doctors hold the answers to all health concerns, but it is a lie. Your health is in your hands. You deserve the truth about everything – when to see a doctor, when to take antibiotics, what treatment options you have, when to rely on natural approaches and what are those, how to support your kids to health, what labs are necessary and how to read them and so on – to make your own self-empowered decisions. All you need is reliable information. If you are looking for unconvential solutions that get to the root cause of your problems, and not just more medication, then you have come to the right place. I built this website to give you complete clarity, confidence and support in several health related topics (and to spread positive vibes).

MY MISSION

My personal goal is to help people improve their relationship with food by teaching them to re-think and re-learn what has been sold as truth about health and food due to the excessive marketing activities of companies. Giving back the tool for people to make better decisions everyday (and filter out misleading information) for a better quality of life. Knowledge is power. As an individual researcher and a food engineer, I will provide you the core knowledge and insight of what our body actually needs based on reliable evidence and research. I always aim to look at things from a biochemical and physiological point of view. Provide you practical methods to lower the rate of occurring diseases in a most environmentally friendly way (diabetes, obesity etc.).

My long-term goal goes beyond just helping people along their health journey, it will be more about “treating food producers” to provide better choices to the end customers. In my opinion, educating consumers as well as producers/farmers have the greatest possible positive effect on a global scale. Educating them would help to promote better decisions on a daily basis.

Step by Step

Where do you start and what information can you really trust?

Always one step at a time, be patient. You are here because you know there is a better way to encounter your health and wellbeing. There are plenty of information which might confuse and overwhelm you in the journey of seeking help.

Know what you want and what you don’t.

Move at your own pace.

Don’t compare your journey with others.

Change your mindset about your health issues.

Enjoy your journey, while you learn.

There are no shortcuts.

Know that you are not alone. Seek support.

Take responsibility. If not you, then who?

Areas I work on

There is no short-term solution for a long-term problem. No magic pill will cure you. Usually one disease has many causative factors. That is why a healing journey is complex and implements all lifestyle elements. Nutrtion is the foundation. Mindset & Exercise are for building resilience. Science gives us the perspective.

There is much more to a human than the physical body. Quantum physics reveals that the universe is more complex than the existence of two realms – material realm and energetic realm – controlling who and what we are. Quantum physics emphasize that everything is made out of energy! What we perceive as physical body is actually the illusion of energy and light. At the fundamental core of an atom, there is an energy vortex. Humans are made out of atoms, therefore we are energy vortices. Our cells can create, give and receive different energetic vibrations and frequencies. We all have different receptors to make sense of our environment.

Having the right mindset aligned with your beliefs and spirit, is the first step in your personal empowerment. Our life is an imprint of our subconscious behavior acquired in the first 7 years of life. Dr. Bruce Lipton, a pioneer in epigenetics, believes that our genes can be altered and expressed based on our own beliefs and our perception of the environment. It means that your genetics is not your destiny, however your mindset is. Positive thinking as well as negative thinking are equally affecting your biology, but they work in the opposite direction (see placebo effect).

There is no gene causing cancer, there is a life stimulus to kick it off. The stimulus could come from the environment, relationships, nutrition, life events, job, activity level, mindset and so on.

Approximately 90% of GP visits are due to intensive stress. Stress is the main trigger in disease pathology. Most of the time, we do not realize that some of our habits are causing extra stress. Most women are told to undereat and overdo cardio to lose weight leading to enormous stress-induced problems (infertility, hormonal imbalances, mood disorders). The key to a lifelong weight loss is building muscles! Muscles are build from proper nutrition and lifting weights. The more muscles you have, the higher your metabolic rate, because muscles use much more energy than fat cells at rest.

You body is your home forever. Nutrition is an emerging science field with still a lot to discover. Your body needs macronutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals) to maintain its anabolic and catabolic functions. It is not just the quality that matters, but the quantity. Eating enough calories to fuel your body is as important. Not enough caloric intake and long-term dieting lead to slow metabolism which puts you in a cycle of weight gain and loss. Fueling the body with the right nutrition not only changes the way you look, but it improves your mood, digestion, libido, hormone health, energy, longevity and the list goes on.

Your metabolism is primarily controlled by your thyroid gland. Liver has a key role in the conversion of thyroid hormone from inactive to active state. Every cell needs active thyroid hormone to utilize energy, nutrients and minerals. Imagine, with a faster metabolic rate, you can eat more food and still get lean. However, if your thyroid feels depleted of nutrients and fuel sources then your metabolism will suffer. When the thyroid gland’s function is low, then the adrenal gland takes over the energy production by producing cortisol. This has a direct effect on your reproductive system. Everything is connected – if an element breaks in the system, the system gets out of balance and the domino effect sets in. What is the solution? Nutrition.

The principle of pro-metabolic nutrition emphasizes easy to digest foods and nutrient-dense ingredients. Each meal contains protein, fat, and carbohydrates in order to stabilize blood sugar levels and at the same time avoid cortisol spikes/drops. Reaching hormonal balance (cortisol & thyroid) can be a game changer in the quality of sleep. The better sleep you get, the faster you recover.

What are these pro-metabolic foods? Well, you should think about simple foods like tropical ripe fruits, eggs, mushrooms, coconut oil, bee pollen, potatoes, grass-fed meat, A2 dairy, some vegetables etc.

Sciences has been shaping our past, present and future. They are continuously evolving and accommodating changes in our world. As Albert Einstein said, “a new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move to higher levels”. In recent decades, we have been efficient in acquiring deeper understanding of life and health sciences. By emphasizing the understanding of cellular, molecular and functional basis of human body, we could extend our life span. The quastion is.. How we can extend our health span? Nutrition science has the answer.

The core principals of health sciences were laid down by crucial subjects, for instance, physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Nutrition science has been evolved from these subjects forming a rock-solid connection between one’s nutrition and health outcomes. Knowing how the human body functions, we could understand its needs to do its job. As we all aware of, our physical body is built and maintained from key nutrients coming from food. Food provides essential building blocks for all of our cells. Food provides protein. Enzymes are made out of chains of proteins (100-1000 amino acids) acting as catalysts in biochemical reactions. Food provides carbohydrates and fats, contributing to energy production. Food provides vitamins and minerals. For instance, magnesium is needed to activate ATP, and to create DNA and proteins.

Nutrition science emerged not only from health sciences, but partly from food sciences. Food sciences incorporate concepts from food hygiene, microbiology, food processing, preservatives, food safety etc. The appearance of new food technologies have given space to a rise in chronic diseases. Plant oil extraction, GMO foods, livestock feeding (soja, corn) & wellbeing, pesticides usage (glyphosate) degraded the food nutritional value and incorporated harmful substances. It is not surprising why now people have food sensitivities, allergies, gut problems, inflammation and even cancer.
